FLASH: Real-time super-resolution for low-cost LiDAR
FLASH: Sharper, faster LiDAR from low-cost sensors
Turning sparse laser scans into rich 3D views is hard and slow—until now. FLASH (Frequency-aware LiDAR Adaptive Super-resolution with Hierarchical fusion) upgrades low-resolution LiDAR to high detail in real time.
- Dual-domain smarts: Combines local spatial attention with global frequency cues via FFT, capturing fine geometry and the periodic scanning patterns sensors produce.
- Adaptive fusion: Learns, per position and scale, which features matter; CBAM attention boosts the right signals and suppresses noise.
- State-of-the-art, single pass: On KITTI, FLASH tops all metrics and even beats uncertainty-heavy baselines (e.g., TULIP with Monte Carlo Dropout) without multiple forward passes.
Result: consistent gains at near and far ranges, with efficiency that fits real-time robotics and autonomous driving.
