SmartSecChain-SDN: Smarter, Safer Software-Defined Networks
As more networks switch to Software-Defined Networking (SDN), keeping them both safe and speedy is a challenge. SmartSecChain-SDN is a new framework that tackles both.
It blends three pieces:
- AI intrusion detection using Random Forest, XGBoost, CatBoost, and a CNN-BiLSTM to spot attacks in real time with high precision.
- Tamper-resistant logs stored on Hyperledger Fabric, a permissioned blockchain, so security records stay private, consistent, and auditable.
- App-aware QoS that prioritizes critical traffic (VoIP, video meetings, business apps) and slows non-essential flows (bulk downloads, updates).
Using Mininet with OpenDaylight and Ryu controllers, the team tested on the InSDN dataset and showed the system can detect diverse cyberattacks while fairly allocating bandwidth under tight resources.
Bottom line: SmartSecChain-SDN offers a practical path to stronger cybersecurity, easier compliance, and smoother performance in next-gen programmable networks.
